The problem with imperialism that was subject was that there was a petition against annexing Hawaiians, but the Hawaiians didnt pauperism to be annexed. When the Hawaiian Islands were finally annexed by the United States in 1898, the event marked end of a long intragroup struggle between native Hawaiians and white American businessmen for control of the Hawaiian government.
